Privacy Policy
Hale — a guided breathing app
Hale ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Hale iOS app handles, how it is stored, and what is — and isn't — sent anywhere.
By using Hale, you agree to the practices described below.
What we don't collect
Hale is built to operate without collecting personal information about you. Specifically:
- No account. Hale does not require sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or password.
- No advertising or third-party trackers. Hale contains no advertising SDKs and does not share data with advertisers.
- No location data. Hale does not request or use your location.
- No microphone or camera access. Hale does not record audio or images.
What stays on your device
Your breathing session history (date, duration, technique used) is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced to your private iCloud account. This data is end-to-end private to your Apple ID — Hale's developer cannot read it.
Apple Health
If you grant permission, Hale writes each completed session as a "Mindful Minute" entry in Apple Health. Health data stays on your device under Apple's HealthKit privacy controls. Hale does not read, transmit, or store your Health data outside of HealthKit. You can revoke this access any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Notifications
If you enable the optional daily reminder, Hale schedules a local notification on your device. No push token or notification content leaves your device.
Subscription & purchases
Hale offers an optional Premium subscription processed by the Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat to validate subscription receipts and unlock Premium features. RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase metadata (an anonymous user ID, your subscription status) — never your name, email, or App Store ID. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for details.
Anonymous analytics
Hale uses TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous, non-identifying usage signals (e.g. "a session started," "the paywall was viewed"). User identifiers are hashed on device with SHA-256 before any signal is sent — TelemetryDeck never sees raw device identifiers, IP addresses, names, or email addresses. This data helps us understand which features matter and where to invest. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.
Children's privacy
Hale is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your choices
- You can disable Apple Health writing in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Hale.
- You can disable notifications in Settings → Notifications → Hale.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- You can opt out of anonymous analytics by disabling Apple's "Allow Apps to Request to Track" — Hale does not request tracking, but the system-level switch suppresses all analytics anyway.
- Deleting Hale removes all locally stored session data on the device. iCloud copies can be purged via Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Hale.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, the new version will appear at this URL. Material changes will be announced inside the app.
